Kickin' It, Morning Meetings, Adjusting to NEW, and Science/Social Studies Rotations

Hello Families!
I announced to our students today that our routine for Kickin' It is going to change slightly. We will be taking the assessment on Thursday rather than Friday. Also, if a student isn't able to complete all 60 problems with at least 91% accuracy in three minutes, they will still move to the next level, but they will not earn the belt for that level.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this change.

Also, I am so happy to share with you that we have been enjoying our Morning Meetings here in Third Grade. When the school year began, we didn't have space in our room to create a circle in the room, so we held our morning meetings outside. With two less tables in our classroom, we now have the space, but the students have been choosing to continue our morning meetings out in the fresh air while we continue to have beautiful morning weather. Our morning meeting always begins with a topic and then we go around the circle to share our responses. A few examples of topics in the last week include: How can your friends help you when you're sad? What would you do if you didn't have tv? and If you could be any animal, which would you be and why?
We have a great group here in Room N and I've enjoyed continuing to get to know your kids!

As you know, we have dropped in numbers here in Room N thanks to our new third grade teacher, Mrs. Reeder. Our students were surprised and excited by how much more space we have now that we were able to move two tables out of the room. All of the third grade students are adjusting well to the changes, and we are excited to move forward with four rounds. Today, we did our first Science/Social Studies Rotation. Mrs. Reeder is teaching Social Studies and I am teaching Science, and every Wednesday, we will rotate classes. Here in Room N, we used our scientific skills of observation to observe an avocado and we will be able to watch the avocado seeds sprout as we continue learning about Life Cycles in Science. Mrs. Reeder taught the students about levels of government in Social Studies.

As always, please reach out if you ever have questions or concerns!
